About the Project:
I was commissioned to make two stylised wigs for the Fashion Museum Bath, to use with their mannequins for general photography projects. The Fashion Museum Bath is currently temporarily closed as it undergoes a major relocation project. It is scheduled to reopen to the public in December 2030 in its brand‑new home at the historic, Grade II-listed Old Post Office building on New Bond Street in the centre of Bath. The museum’s internationally renowned archive of roughly 100,000 fashion artifacts, spanning 400 years of history, is currently being safely stored and maintained at the Dents headquarters in Warminster.
Dents is a historic British heritage fashion brand, widely recognised as one of the world’s premier luxury glove makers. Founded in 1777 by John Dent in Worcester, it is possibly Britain’s oldest existing fashion manufacturer. The company moved its operations to Warminster, Wiltshire, in 1937. Today, its spacious, high-security modern headquarters double as the temporary climate-controlled archive housing the Fashion Museum Bath’s collection during its relocation
The intention of the wigs was to provide more visual interest to the otherwise bald-headed mannequins whilst photographing their archive of hats and clothing. The two styles chosen for these wigs were a “low bun’ and a “half-up, half-down” look.
The wigs are modelling two of my personal hats(!), and I will add images from the photoshoots that these wigs are used on from the Fashion Museum Bath when they are available to me.

About:
- The wigs are made to fit onto fibreglass heads.
- They are constructed onto a frame made of Rigilene boning with a base of netting.
- They are made from strips of crinoline, fixed with threads onto the frame.
